Friday's Letters

Dear Jax, I love how much of a cuddle bug you are in the mornings, but you make it so hard to get outta bed!

Dear Red Ball, you had a good run. Sorry you didn't last longer under the wrath of Jax and his pit bull jaws.

Dear Mickey Mouse Cupcakes, you were so fun to make last night! Dear 3 miles, I will own you, soon, very soon.

Dear body, I am impressed with you. Loving the changes!

Dear Ben Howard, I've been playing your song Keep Your Head Up over and over the past few days. LOVE!

Dear Michael's craft store, went in for some baking cups, came out with some sweet new running shorts. Score!

Dear Hawaiian time, we are slowly getting along.

Dear Hawaii, see you in 22 days!

Dear Jesus, there is so much I am thankful for. Life is good these days. It hasn't been this way in a very long time. You are so good.

Dear Soldier Boy, messaging you 7 months ago was the best decision I ever made. Miss you!

ps- thank you for the prayers, thoughts and sweet comments on my last post! soldier boy is thoroughly enjoying his 72 hour pass and appreciates all the welcome home love.

Safe & Sound

Soldier boy made it back to the states!!!

Feel free to give him a warm welcome back comment!
He reads this lil ol blog.

Our first text messages to each other:

SB: hey babe
Me: Ohhhh my gosh!
Me: What a pleasant surprise :)
SB: lol I know. :) It's weird texting u from my phone
Me: Haha, yeah really weird!

I can't describe the excitement! I didn't know when I would hear from him so it came as a shock when I got that first text. I want to remember this moment. He called me not long after and wow. It was so good to hear his voice again. 23 days y'all!!! And I have this feeling April is going to fly by, there is a lot going on right now for me. All good and all exciting but overwhelming! So thankful him and the troops made it back safely.

Just as I had figured out Afghanie time, I've gotta switch and figure out Hawaiian time.
Bring it on Hawaiian-Aleutian Standard Time.

Pray for us please? For me? I'm really nervous about our relationship from this point on. Thanks.

i die

-i look hot scary
-how the heck did i run 13.1 miles last december? vomit.
-i can barely make it 3 miles. THREE!
-no, jax did not turn into a black man. that's my parents dog.
-i am clearly aware how freaky my elbows are. im double-jointed. get over it.
-did you miss the fact that i'm a blonde now?
-and yes, i had to document this. it's rather pathetic.

-at least i've got some killer biceps:

{one} so guess what? i'm a blonde... didn't expect to be one, but i just roll with whatever idea my hairdresser throws out there. and ya know what? im loving it.

{two} i saw the hunger games and wasn't all that impressed. they did great with the cast, but just so much is missing. if you haven't read the books, you really should. i mean, i didn't even cry?! im a big baby at the movies. what the heck?!

{three} today i feel like typing in all lowercase.

{five} i took the facebook and twitter apps off my phone! gasp! it's weird, but nice.

{six} celebratory margaritas!

{five} i love sermons that truly speak to you, like the pastor/God is speaking directly to you and no one else. amazing i tell ya. part of the sermon was about friendships. a friend of over 15 years and i parted ways a while back...i went through a bad breakup at the time so I was a mess. i learned a lot since then but you see, i am somewhat awful at friendships, basically relationships in general. i expect so much because i give so much. im not the greatest at communication. okay fine, i am awful at it. but 'dating' soldier boy has taught me how key communication is especially in our situation. i've become a lot more open. i've realized there are so many different personalities and love languages. i've learned to forgive. that nobody's perfect. and that we should love our friends like christ loves us. i felt called to ask for forgiveness from the relationship i broke. i sent her a message and we both just kind of broke down. we both apologized. i mean really, we were both going through a very bad time in our lives. and ya know what... her and i are going to give this childhood friendship a try again. we've put it all out there on the plate of what we need, where we were wrong, and asked for each others forgiveness. God is so good.

hope y'all had a lovely weekend!!

Friday's Letters

Dear Jesus, Sometimes I get scared giving it all to you. After a year full of closed doors, one has finally opened and it is exactly what you knew I desired. I almost broke down in tears this morning. My heart is full of thankfulness. Dear bloggy friends, the ol blog here will be going through BIG changes. Involving a major name change as I go through a change in my own life. I can't wait to share it with y'all. For now, please excuse the mess the blog will experience. Dear Jax, you're my boy! Always and forever! Thanks for greeting me {read: attacking me} when I come home from work. Best part of my day. Dear weights/gym, you are kicking my rear. And I like it. The results make it all worth it! EAT CLEAN, TRAIN DIRTY! Dear Cardio, starting this weekend, we reunite. It's about to get hardcore up in hurrrr! Goodbye extra fat, goodbye saddlebags. You won't be missed. Dear Facebook, we have such a love hate relationship. The only thing I love about you is that I get to talk to my soldier boy. When he gets back to the states, I think you and I might have to part ways. Sorry. It's been real, though. Dear Soldier Boy, words can't describe the emotions I go through daily. 28 days til I am in your arms, til we are on the beach, enjoying ice cold beers together. You're my favorite.

Life isn't always so sweet. I encountered that way too early this morning.
My kindness got slapped back in my face.
Sometimes you just gotta shake it off.
There are plenty of other people who will appreciate it.

{The lil ol blog here is going to be going through some changes, so I won't be around too much. Will fill y'all in hopefully soon! xoxo}

Hey guys! I am so happy to be over here today :) and am excited to offer all you bloggers, shop owners, social media gurus, you get the idea? a little treat!

My name is Alycia Crowley and I blog over at Crowley Party, where I talk about my life, fashion, food, crafts, pretty much whatever interests me! My husband and I think Life Should be a Party (hence the blog title Crowley Party) and that we should enjoy all the little to big things in life :)

Lately I have been trying to be more creative and have some fun, so in order to do that and push myself, I am hoping to open up a little online shop within the next month or so! It got me thinking about all the other blogs and shops out there that are just starting out or looking to expand. Things cost money, which we all know we want to save some money, so I thought it would be fun to offer people some free advertising space on my blog!

Today I am giving away a Large Ad Spot (30 days) on my blog to one of you readers to bring some attention to your blog or your shop, or whatever you want to promote! You can decide when you want to start your Large Ad, it can start whenever you want!

Here are some details behind my blog to intrigue you:
I have over 2300 followers on my blog via GFC.

A letter to the weak me

Found this letter on Facebook

I about died when my family decided to have a pizza night this weekend.
Some of you may think it's extreme, but I do help myself to a piece of chocolate, a Dr P or even a cheat meal to Tijuana Flats with coworkers. I have a goal in mind and I am determined to get there and eat as healthy as possible. I have my moments though, this is why I love this letter. A slap in the face for the weak me.

Dear Weak [Michelle],

I get it. You're dying for a piece of candy. Maybe it's not the candy (or the pastries brownies, or whatever), maybe you're bored, you're hungry, you're tired of thinking about the candy all day and you're just saying screw it. One bite, one piece, one serving/helping, and then i'm done, I'll go to the gym, I'll go home for the night, I'm still on track.

You're bored.

This is absolutely the stupidest reason imaginable to throw yourself off track, feel disappointed in yourself and your lack of self-control, give yourself a belly you'll have to work off for four days, screw up the carb deficit that I work hard every single day to create, feel cranky, avoid plans with friends or your boyfriend, dread the weekend, add stress to your already stressful life, etc. Remember, you never get bored of accidentally discovering how slim you are, whether it's in the fitting room, when lining up progress pictures, in the locker room at the gym, when you catch a glimpse of yourself in a window as you walk down the street, when someone calls you "slim" or "toned" or "fit". THOSE THINGS never get boring. Focus on how fun and exciting that part of the process is and ignore the rest. For my sake.

You're hungry.

Go drink four glasses of water right now. Back? OK. Are you still hungry? If so, email someone you can confide in. Or eat a protein bar, or go microwave some broccoli. You know that will fill you up and do good things for your body and your goals. You don't want the broccoli? Then you're not hungry.

You're saying "Screw it."

If you want to quit this journey, decide to quit and then you can eat pizza and drink beer every night. You an go out with your friends and eat hors d'oeuvres all night long. you won't feel good, but at least you will be free. it the freedom that you really want? No. You're having a momentary lapse. Well, think about me. The one who preps all her food for the week on Sunday night, the one with abs, the one who's going to stand up on stage in front of 10,000 people and turn her back and stick out her butt. I'm the one who feels awesome in her clothes, the one who prances around the gym like she owns the place, the one who drags herself out of bed to do early morning cardio, the one who inspires her family, and friends. Think about what you're doing to ME, Strong [enter your own name], when you let a momentary "oh screw it" overtake and overcome all of the hard work I put in every single day, every time I go to a bar and wave off the waiter when he asks what I want to drink, every time I skillfully assemble a healthy, trap-free meal at a restaurant while everyone else orders fries and a third (or fourth...) beer or regular Coke Dr Pepper.

And you know very well there's no such things as "Just One Bite."

Every single time you tell yourself you can handle having one taste of something, you're wrong. Is it because you're literally powerless in the face of sugar, is your insulin really swinging that hard that you can not resist? You know that you have a ton of self control. EVEN YOU (I obviously do). This isn't about saying no; by the time you've had the first bite of sugar, you've given UP on saying no. You're saying "yes," and you will continue to do so until it's time to go home or there is no more freakin' candy left in the bowl (did you REALLY want a Mounds yesterday? They're VILE!) So don't ever let yourself cross over into saying "yes" to junk. Say "NO" for HEAVEN SAKE!!

A message from me to you.

I love you (even though you are the weak version of me) because we are the same person. You have a ton to be proud of and you should love the process and love how far you have come. You can go even farther, and you will be around less and less as time passes, you won't have to read this letter as often. You are strong inside, this is only temporary, and it will pass. Now go get a cup of water and get back to kicking ass.

Strong [Michelle]

P.S. I'll be back tomorrow morning when you wake up.

Friday's Letters

Dear Jax baby- I love you crazy boy. Your cuteness kills me every single day.

Dear Baby Brother- Yes, you will always be considered the 'baby'. I love sitting in the stands at the ol alma mater to watch you rock it at your lacrosse games. I am determined to figure out this game.

Dear Invisible Children- I will not stop at nothing to spread the word about Kony 2012. Even after all the crap I've encountered for supporting y'all. I believe in what you do and have done for the past 10 years for these children. I am also amazed at the quick response and changes to the website for the haters/critics.

Dear Social Media- you're powerful and it absolutely amazes me.

Dear Coworkers- I'd appreciate it greatly if you'd stop taking candy from my candy dish or at least be so kind as to bring in a new bag to replenish my stash. The candy is, afterall, for our clients. Just sayin'.

Dear Sun- please grace me with your presence this weekend.

Dear Soldier Boy- I miss you so much. Can't believe you only have two weeks left in Afghanieland! Rough month for us and I know we are going to face so many more challenges to our relationship, but I know we can get through this together. Next few months are going to be amazing! Get your butt home safe. And I am kinda sorta excited for us to communicate like normal people soon! Weird. Oh, and can you please talk like this more often? Mmk, thanks.
